Diabetes Education Series Event Thursday at St. John's Mercy Hospital

St. John's Mercy Hospital and Brown Shoe Center will present "Diabetes Foot Conditions: How Best to Treat" as part of the Hospital's diabetes educations series. The series will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in the Tucker Room, which is on the second floor at St. John's Mercy Hospital, 901 E. Fifth St. in Washington.

Diabetes can cause damage to blood vessels and nerves, resulting in numbness, pain or burning. If the damages progresses, it can cause loss of motor control, abnormal gait, ulcers and sometimes the need for amputation.

This presentation of the St. John's Mercy Hospital Diabetes Education Series will offer important advice regarding how to prevent and treat foot damage caused by diabetes.
