In conjunction with the Heat to Heart Fair on February 13th, St. John’s Mercy Hospital is hosting a Valentine’s Day Card Contest for first grade students. The hospital is accepting entries now. The entry deadline is February 5th. The first place winner will receive a $100 Savings Bond donated by First State Community Bank. Second and third place winners will each receive a $50 Savings Bond also from First State Community Bank. Participants should fold an 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper in half to use as the basis of their card and decorate it as they see fit. The cards should include a Valentine’s Day message to St. John’s Mercy patients. Each card should list the names of the student, teacher and school and the school’s phone number. All entries will be on display at the Heart to Heart Fair and then given to patients after the event. Members of the St. John’s Mercy Hospital Auxiliary will select the finalists and people attending the fair will vote for the first, second and third place winners. The finalists’ schools will be notified prior to the event so that they may participate in the award ceremony. The Heart to Heart Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, February 13th, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital. Winners of the Valentine’s Day Contest will be announced around 1:30 p.m. Entries may be delivered in person or by mail to St. John’s Mercy Hospital; 901 East Fifth Street, Suite 214; Washington, MO 63090.
