St. John’s Mercy Hospital to Offer Free H1N1 Vaccinations to Expectant Mothers |

St. John's Mercy Hospital will offer free H1N1 vaccinations during "Expectant Mother Vaccination Day" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in Classroom A at the Mercy Medical Building, 851 E. Fifth St. in Washington. "The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) advises that pregnant women receive the vaccine because they are one of the high risk groups for this strain of influenza," said Kelly Linders, RN, BSN, manager of the Maternal Child Department at St. John’s Mercy Hospital. "St. John's Mercy agrees with that advice, so we wanted to provide an opportunity for pregnant women and the people they live with, especially their children, to receive the vaccine." The vaccines are preservative free and will be administered by registered nurses while supplies last. The shots will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. No shots will be offered to children under 4 years old or any individuals who have severe allergic reactions to eggs, peanuts or shellfish. For more information, call 636-239-8500. |
