The Missouri Department of Transportation and the City of Washington announced today that the new lanes on Route 100 between Interstate 44 and Route 47 near Washington are now open. MoDOT, along with its contractor Millstone Bangert, opened the new lanes at approximately 3:15 p.m., this afternoon. Crews will continue to be present along the highway for two weeks following this afternoon's opening to put the finishing touches on Route 100. Motorists should continue to reduce their speed, use caution and pay attention in this work zone. A walk/bike event and ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, July 10 on the new westbound lanes near St. John's Road to celebrate the opening of the new lanes scheduled this week. Approximately 400 people attended the highway celebration event where many rode their bikes or walked on the new lanes. You can read more about the ribbon cutting ceremony in this recent WashMo.com article: Route 100 Ribbon Cutting Held Saturday The Route 100 Widening Project is a cost-share partnership between MoDOT and the City of Washington. The last construction contract was awarded to Millstone Bangert for approximately $21.1 million. This project consists of two additional lanes on Route 100 from Interstate 44 to Route 47. Widening Route 100 from Interstate 44 to Route 47 will provide a safer link from the St. Louis metropolitan area to the historic and scenic communities within Franklin County. |
