The Missouri Department of Transportation will begin work on Route 50 in two different sections near Union starting the week of July 10. MoDOT will perform pavement repairs on Route 50 at night from Independence Drive to Route 47, and also from Interstate 44 to Denmark Road/Progress Parkway. This will include various lane closures during non-peak (night) hours along the highway with one lane closing at a time. There will be minimal lane closures during peak hours, but both lanes of traffic will be open at daytime.

During this construction project, temporary lane closures will occur during non-peak hours. However, upcoming the pavement repair work on southbound Route 47 will require some significant impacts to traffic, with some overnight closures and truck detours. MoDOT will keep the media and motorists informed as crews finalize more details regarding the signed detours and when these closures will begin.

Route 50 in these two sections need to be resurfaced to maintain a quality driving surface for Franklin County motorists. This improvement work will make a significant difference in the quality of pavement on Route 50 after construction is complete. This resurfacing project is expected to be completed in mid-October 2011.
