Mercy to Co-sponsor Community Blood Drives in April

St. John's Mercy works with area schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to collect life-saving blood products from generous donors. Donations provide life support for patients at St. John's Mercy. Upcoming events include:

• East Central College Blood Drive sponsored by Student Activities from 8:30am to 1:30pm Wednesday, April 13, in the Gymnasium of the Multipurpose Building, 1964 Prairie Dell Road in Union.
• Union High School Spring Blood Drive sponsored by the Student Council from 8:30am to 1:30pm Thursday, April 21, in the Old Gymnasium,  #1 Wildcat Drive in Union.

Walk-ins are welcome or donors may sign up for an appointment for most events at www.donateblood.mercy.net.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with permission from a parent or legal guardian. They must be at least 110 pounds and in good health. All donors should allow eight weeks between donations. All presenting donors will receive a t-shirt.

St. John's Mercy Blood Donor Services is the only mobile, hospital-based, blood collection center in the state of Missouri. Being mobile means bringing services to peoples' places of business, worship or school. The service allows the hospital to collect life-saving blood supplies from the community, for the community at a portion of the cost.
